NGT to a Tee

NGT Tasmania gave Hobart Football Club a boost by sponsoring a Golf Day at the Tasmanian Golf Club in April.
The event was a four man ambrose, with 22 teams . We came seventh but who’s counting?
We had fun and raised money for a good cause - the coaching, equipment and day to day activities of the Hobart Football Club. NGT Tasmania was represented by John McGirr, Business Development Manager, with help from Tom Bawle Licensee of The Prince of Wales Hotel and the Mark Ellis head chef from the New Sydney Hotel. And they all made it to the 19th hole to celebrate!
NGT Tasmania loves its work with Tasmanian businesses and community organisations. Our training courses aim to meet their needs and increase their productivity and skills. Email ngttraining@ngt.com.au.

Speak Easy!

Ten senior managers from a fast-growing successful Tasmanian business learnt how to make an impression on their audience with useful public speaking techniques at a daylong workshop in Hobart. They practiced using simple tools and cool thinking to speak effectively, get attention and make a sale.
Feedback indicated they got a lot out of the day. One participant wrote that the most useful things were learning about "key elements in public speaking, breaking the speech into sections, and planning." Another manager said, "I found it interesting that those who thought that this course was not going to be any use to them were surprised at their actual skill levels before and after the course."
Everyone can learn something out this workshop. NGT Tasmania trainers are skilled and enjoy making training fun. “Adults learn better when they have a laugh, lots of breaks and practical exercises” explains the Hobart trainer, Maggie Nettleship.

The O Group is a community partnership that brings together Findstaff.biz, NGT Tasmania, Business & Employment and CHOICE Employment.
Together these businesses use their resources, people and knowledge to seek employment, training and business solutions for every Tasmanian.
The community partnership was recently recognised for its valuable contribution to communities on the North West Coast when it was named winner of the "Community Contribution" category of the North West Commerce and Industry Awards.
The award was presented to Charlie Emmerton, Executive Manager of the O Group, at a Gala Dinner held in Devonport on 1 March 2008.
Andrew Billing, Chief Executive Office of the O Group said "our often challenging work makes a great contribution to the community and it is wonderful to have this recognised through an award like this one." Mr Billing went on to thank all staff for the work they do with jobseekers, apprentices and trainees, employers, students, small business and other community groups stating that "our contribution to the Tasmanian community is broad and we are justified in the pride we take in winning this award."
In it's third year, the North West Commerce and Industry Awards are open to all businesses in the 64 telephone area.
