Citing a few bumps along the way during her traineeship, Hayley says it’s the constant support from NGT Tasmania consultant Julie Kiss that helped her get through. ‘I was continuously encouraged to strive higher and bounce back from any struggles that arose” Hayley said.
Hayley started as a trainee in reception at the NWRH in 2008, doing a Certificate 2 in Business. “Working on reception was a fantastic way to find my feet and become familiar with surrounding departments and the staff that work within them.”
In 2009, Hayley was employed by NGT Tasmania to continue completing her Certificate 3 in Business in the NWRH’s Nursing Administration.
According to Hayley, the way the training modules were delivered and the learning style was also helpful in a work situation. “The skills I obtained in completing my certificate were beneficial to my every day work.” Hayley cites the Time Management course run by NGT Tasmania Training as being especially valuable.
“Having been in this role for almost 2 years I have found it to be an extremely rewarding experience. The skills I have learnt both professionally and personally have been of great benefit.”
Long term, Hayley hopes to continue her employment within the Department of Health and Human Services and maintain her personal development with further education.
