NGT Tasmania is pleased to offer the following services to the nursing community.
Enrolled Nursing
NGT Tasmania is currently delivering the Certificate IV in Health (Nursing) however it is likely this qualification will be phased out and replaced by a Diploma course. We are currently not registered to deliver the Diploma.
The Future for Nursing Training (EN)
Enrolled Nursing in Tasmania is undergoing some changes and moving to the Diploma of Nursing. This qualification will become the minimum entry level for new enrolled nurse graduates seeking registration in Tasmania.
The Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing – HLT51607) is designed to professionally prepare participants to meet the requirements of the Nursing Board of Tasmania for Enrolled Nurses with medication endorsement. It is aimed at people employed in the health industry with a focus on supported theoretical sessions and clinical experience. This program is a Fee for Service, 2 year pathway. The attached course outline is provided for information purposes only and is subject to change.
Clinical Placements
As part of the assessment process, experience in the clinical setting is a requirement to demonstrate skills and knowledge. The number of clinical hours for the Diploma is still to be finalised.
Pre-requisites
- It is a requirement that participants provide a current national police check.
- Literacy and numeracy testing will form part of the selection process.

Medical Terminology
This self study package from NGT Tasmania prepares individuals for the use of and familiarisation with terminology used in a health setting. It is suitable for nurses, medical receptionist and secretaries.
The Medical Terminology Package can be completed with the use of a medical dictionary and/or access to the internet. Completion of the package can take from 2 weeks to 6 months to complete, depending on how much time you allocate to studying. When you have completed all the activities in the package, you need to return it to NGT Tasmania. If additional work is required, it will be returned to you with guidelines for completion. If successfully completed, it will be returned with a Certificate of Completion.
